New to Lagos City?
Looking for fun activities to engage in while you're here?
Not to worry, it shouldn't be hard because Lagos is the commercial and fun hub of Nigeria.
Infact, your main problem will be choosing from many activities to engage in.
In this post, I'm going to show you five things you can do(for a start) when you're in the city.
1. Visit the beach
Lagos is a city surrounded with many beaches which are ideal for picnics, beach sports and general relaxation. Feel free to get enchanted with the beautiful sand, the trees and vibrant water.
Some of the most popular beaches are Kuramo, Barracuda, Eleko and Tarkwa beaches. These beaches of course have recreation centers, bars, restaurants and other fun activities to keep you occupied.
A heads up though: if you go during weekends or public holidays, be prepared for the crowd.
2. Shop at the local markets
Markets like the popular Balogun and Idumota markets are the easiest ways to get the true Lagos feel. You can buy local ingredients used in preparing Nigerian delicacies, shoes, clothes, jewelries and lots more.
You get to haggle(if you can😂) and get amazing items at an amazing range of prices from really cheap to very expensive. It is something to experience.
3. Explore the Lekki Conservation Centre
The list won't be complete without LCC as it's a top hangout destination for Lagosians and visitors alike. If you love biodiversity, enjoy seeing plants and animals in their natural environment then this place is a must visit.
There's a lot of natural exploration to be done here so you're sure to have a great time. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes though as your exploration is going to be done on foot.
4. Try Nigerian dishes
There's literally no end to the amount of Nigerian dishes you can try in Lagos. This is due to the sheer amount of food spots available in the city.
Whether you go to local eateries or high end restaurants, you can treat your tastebuds to delightful meals. From the popular Jollof rice to the assorted soups and delicacies, you're in for a treat.
5. New Afrika Shrine
How can I forget the new Afrika shrine situated in Lagos. If you know and love Fela(yes, the legendary Fela Kuti) then you'd love this place. This shrine displays photo galleries of Fela Kuti and features performances from several musicians.
If you're lucky to visit during the Felabration music festival, which is a yearly event held in Fela's honour, then you'd experience fully the life of the Afrika shrine.
There you have it. As a new visitor to Lagos, this is what you need to get started in terms of exploration and activity. As you get acquainted with the city, you can take your explorations further.
