Cancel the trip! Girls trips are overrated.
Seriously, cancel it. Why would you want to go ahead? All you would have is whining, complaining, drama, passive-aggression, comparisons and ultimately regret. What's the fun in that?
Some want to stay in a fancy place and have the time of their lives while some others are complaining about funds and feeling like the rest are showing off. Do you really want that?
Unless of course you want to end up on a budget vacation, go ahead. But let me tell you what a budget vacation looks like:
1. Since everyone doesn't have the same lifestyle, taste or funds, you are going to miss out on quality fun because you want to carry everyone along.
2. You are going to come out of pocket for a lot of things because the penny-pinchers in your group won't be able to spend. You don't want to miss out on certain activities, so you would cover costs. You'd complain silently, then you'd hear them gossiping about you, you'd be resentful and then regretful.
3. Money lectures and shadiness- Remember when your friend tried to borrow money from you and you refused because she hasn't paid back the previous ones? Well, she would bring it up during or after that "expensive" activity you paid for her to enjoy. If you order a "luxury" service just because that's what you planned to do this vacay, your broke friends would ask if you have no financial discipline. Yes, it will happen.
Are you still thinking of the girls trip? Fine! Since you're hard headed and have refused to take heed, here are some tips:
1. Start planning from the beginning of the year- Tell everyone in your group to start saving up. Have a list of places you want to go, activities you'd love to do, and a required budget each girl must have.
2. Book flights ahead- it's cheaper that way. Do not book flights close to the period when you're due to go. Cheaper flights means your less buoyant friends have money for fun moments during your girls trip.
3. Make your expectations clear- This has to be stated clearly. No shitty restaurants,no hostel bookings (it's a nice hotel for you or nothing), no limitations on your activity. Outline the things you won't compromise on. Say this sweetly and with smiles of course to minimize the hard feelings which will come.
4. Plan for Solo moments during the trip- Don't plan a girls trip where you all stay together at ALL times, it will end in tears. You all need a little space away from each other. Book single rooms but have them close to each other. This is especially important for introverts and the ones on a strict budget. They need to have a little space to recharge and readjust their plans during the trip.
5. Look for Deals- This can be done through a dedicated search for Groupons or use of travel agents. Look for restaurant specials, Spa discounts, hotel promos, etc.
6. Plan Group games and inexpensive activities- This is to accommodate everyone's pockets and promote bonding. Do this within limits of course. You don't want to play games that will result to hurt feelings eg Truth or Dare, Strip clubs where you have to throw lots of money on strange naked girls in the presence of your broke friends.
7. Expect the best, Prepare for the worst- Yeah, if you desperately need to give yourself the dream vacation you want regardless of your penny-pinching friends, prepare for snide remarks. Just arm yourself with PATIENCE because you will be tested. It's the least you can do for yourself since you decided to go ahead with the girls trip anyway.
You asked for it, I've given you. This is how to plan for a girls trip when everyone has a different budget. Did I miss anything out? It's deliberate! I still think you should cancel it and go with friends in your income bracket.
Meh, Whatever!
Peace!
